Theory of Zero Requiem

The Zero Requiem was the plan created by Lelouch, Suzaku, and C.C. in order to bring about world peace and immortalize the name of Zero. The plan was known only by the three of them. Lelouch would play the tyrannical king, Suzaku would take his place as Zero, and C.C. would watch as history was made once again. The plan is set into action during a parade which was set to end with the execution of Kallen, The Black Knights, The Knights of the Round, and Schneizel. When Suzaku appears in the Zero costume, the knights question whom could be behind the mask, confused because they’ve only ever known Lelouch to be Zero.

Kallen insists that “It’s Zero.” A statement that strikes me as odd because of the way she says it. Kallen speaks as if it’s fact. The question is why? Is it because she truly believes that Zero and Lelouch are separate and that Zero is a symbol, as opposed to a person? It’s also possible that after all the time Kallen spent being Lelouch’s contact and knowing his secret, and all the battles she fought against Suzaku; she was able to figure out the basics of the Zero Requiem.

As a Kallen fan I would like to think that she figured it out. Suzaku was pronounced dead but no one ever saw the body, because Kallen made the “killing blow” I think that she would realize that while she destroyed the Lancelot, she didn’t kill Suzaku. It could be possible that he died of complications after the battle, but it is likely that someone would have seen him being treated. As for Lelouch, during their final goodbye he told her to ”live”, when she wasn’t quite out of earshot. She even kisses him goodbye. After all the things that Lelouch said to Kallen I find it unlikely that she would just forgive him unless she had faith that he was a good person and had a reason for his actions.

Overall, it is unlikely that Kallen ever knew the complete plan of the Zero Requiem even if she was able to guess portions of the plan; however I think that based on her firm statements it is hard to believe she wasn’t able to figure out what transpired that day.
