The Possibility for a Love Life

Kallen is a strong and independent girl. She finds herself interested in guys however; she refuses to rely on anyone, much less a guy. Kallen would probably want a guy who wouldn’t try to control her or consider her weak. So who exactly would Kallen go well with?

My first thought would be Lelouch but he is a strategist, he is always thinking ahead and he doesn’t seem to like not being in control. Kallen and Lelouch work well together but Kallen doesn’t respect Lelouch enough that she would give up her freedom and independence for him. You could say that she does every day, because Lelouch is in fact Zero however for Kallen, who sees Zero as a symbol not a person, letting Zero lead her into battle is a completely different scenario.

Early in the first season many people would have considered Suzaku as being a good match for Kallen. It doesn’t seem that strange, both want freedom for Japan, and they can respect each other as Knightmare Pilots, however they both have very different methods. Suzaku’s love for Euphemia would be one bump in the road if you considered Kallen and Suzaku as a match but it’s really the incident with refrain that destroys any chance they may have had together. When Suzaku tries to use refrain to make Kallen talk, he shows that he will use every advantage to get ahead, and would completely disrespect Kallen’s will.

Some fans have even considered C.C. and Kallen as a couple. I have to say it wouldn’t ever work. Not because they’re both girls but because they are too different. C.C. is too carefree in Kallen’s opinion. Kallen is a woman of action where as C.C. would watch from the sidelines. C.C. likes thinkers. Kallen is more brash and reckless, then C.C. would like in a partner.

So who would I stick Kallen with? Gino Weinberg, the Knight of Three. From the start Gino is highly impressed with Kallen’s fighting abilities. Kallen is impressed with Gino’s piloting as well. When Kallen is imprisoned Gino takes the time to talk to her and try to learn about her and her motives, out of some type of curiosity. In the final battle between Kallen and Suzaku he doesn’t interrupt their fight but merely breaks Suzaku’s shield to give Kallen the opportunity to equal the playing field. He also saves her from death. These actions seem to me to be a faith in Kallen but the ability to be there when she may need him. They show some interesting in one another during the war and are next to each other during Ohgi and Viletta’s wedding.
